Another week, another chance to find more interesting bits and bobs for the Uganda Project. I went on the hunt to find other sites that raise awareness for charities or good causes around the world, Flyer Design Goodness and The Haiti Poster Project are two I thought were interesting for this project, from a design perspective and out of interest on how they raised awareness for Haiti. The poster project was set up after the 2010 earthquake that caused devastation in Haiti, Designers from around the world donated prints to be sold to support the charity Doctors Without Borders. THis was all in aid to raise awareness and money to help Haiti to recover from it's natural disaster.

So... We have been looking for inspiration for poster designs and also ideas concerning how we might promote the charity event for the UHST. Here are just a few ideas of design I have found on the Internet concerning interesting posters/ advertising
I like the idea of using flat colour for an African cause as it reflects African art and design. The Haiti example is a perfect example of a design that is eye catching and very simple and to the point but with a very soft and light feeling to it. The hand generated imagery also appeals to me as we are dealing with schools and I like the idea of representing them in this way.
With the second advertising example I like the idea of having the children holding the board up and stating their appeal. It is provocative with what is being said which is not really what we will essentially be looking for, but again the simplicity of the idea and imagery really appeals to me as we can write anything we want to portray within the card space.
With the last example the idea of people taking to the streets and making a statement strongly appeals to me. Here we can see how World Aids Day tries to appeal to a world audience in Denmark. I think it is a brilliant idea to provoke people into asking questions of themselves and of what is not just happening in front of their eyes, but what is happening all around the world. I think a togetherness is formed by this campaign.
